LISD continues focusing on our Career and Technical Education classes offered in LISD. Today we spotlight Mr. Cameron Knight's Welding Class. Welding students learn the art and technology of joining metals together with heat in the welding lab, using special equipment to perform different welding processes. They also learn to fabricate a project accurately, work from blueprints, repair broken parts, problem-solve a welding dilemma, and use math and measurement skills for the welding project. Students learn the knowledge, skills, and theory in the characteristics of metals, their structure and properties, and welding technologies. They gain an understanding of welding equipment, tools, safety procedures, machine operation, industrial applications, and even technology. LHS's welding CTE class provides students with skills for employment for life after high school and enables them to further their welding education at South Plains College. This career skill "sparks" boundless opportunities in the job market, and LISD is so proud of the students that learn in this CTE course.
