LHS Art Students Earn Awards

LHS students in Mr. Steven Suarez's art classes are featured in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards at Wayland Baptist University through February 7th.  Mr. Suarez submitted the art entrees for Gold Key, Silver Key & Honorable Mention and took his students on a field trip to see their work presented in the exhibit. Students' entries were judged by the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts field. Being honored with these art awards opens doors for students to receive scholarships to further their art careers.  Gabriel Nieland won Gold Key for his Mixed Media "Worlds Collide."  Noah Apodaca received Gold Key for his Mixed Media "Evolution." Felicia Vasquez won Gold Key for her Mixed Media "Better to be Asleep" and an Honorable Mention for her painting "Iguana." Victoria Thongvanh earned a Silver Key award for her Painting "Skreet." Ronnie Bean received Honorable Mention for his Mixed Media "Reflection." Gerardo Ceballos received Honorable Mention for his Drawing "Creature Feature." Kristina Long received Honorable Mention for her Drawing "Phases of Life." Clara Rodriguez received Honorable Mention for her painting "Lover Boy." Trisha Sharpe received an Honorable Mention for her painting "Time Wonders." Congratulations to all these LHS Art students on pursuing their passion that might lead to a career.  Thank you, Mr. Suarez, for leading them down this path!
