It's CTE Month, and we have to share that three LHS candidates from the Levelland Opportunity Courses have been accepted to the Quest2Achieve Program to complete an internship next fall. Quest2Achieve is a work experience training program for transition students with learning differences, designed to teach students the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace. Students who participate in Q2A will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned employees and a job coach in two different departments to learn each department's skills and job tasks. Jacob Torrez is a Senior at LHS and has been part of the Levelland Opportunity Center for three years, participating in Summer Earn & Learn, Vocational Adjustment Training, Job Shadowing & Career Fairs throughout his time with LOC. Jacob has volunteered with lawn care, litter control, janitorial, and the t-shirt making LOC aspects. Damian Munguia is a Senior at LHS and has also been part of Levelland Opportunity Center for three years. In those three years, Damian has worked on lawn care, janitorial, litter control, and t-shirt making. Damian has participated in Summer Earn & Learn, Vocational Adjustment Training, Job Shadowing & Career Fairs throughout his time with LOC. He has been recognized as LOC Volunteer of the Month three times and has recently been actively training other students in their new lawn care roles. Casey Leclear is a new student at LHS and in his first year with LOC. He moved to Levelland from out of state where he participated in a similar vocational program. He is taking General Employability Skills classes learning vocational and life skills. All three boys will benefit from and will be an asset to the Quest2Achieve program. Congratulations to these three boys for your success in an LISD CTEd program! Hard work pays off!
