LHS students in Mrs. Priscella Garza's Cultural Linguistics classes studied Valentine's Day in Spanish-speaking Countries. In most of South America, Valentine's Day is known as "El dia del amor y la amistad," or Love and Friendship Day just like in America. On this day, groups of friends exchange Valentine's chocolates, cards, and gifts all in the name of friendship. Mrs. Garza continued the study to include the history of chocolate as well, and her students enjoyed a hot chocolate and Valentine cookie treat to bring in this cold winter weather. Thank you, Mrs. Garza, for helping your students understand the true meaning of Valentine's Day!
