Forensic Science

On National Public School Day and during CTE Month LISD continued to feature great things in our school district! LHS students in Coach Nelda Munoz's Forensic Science class were studying blood spatter patterns. Investigators have been using bloodstain interpretation as a means to re-create crime scenes since 1939. Studying blood spatter patterns makes it possible to determine the direction the blood was traveling, the angle of impact, and the blood's point of origin. Investigators can tell what type of weapon caused the spatter, determine the general area where the attack occurred, track the victim's position, and even test an alibi. (Disclaimer: fake blood was used to do this experiment!) How lucky are these students to get to study Forensic Science in high school? Thank you, Mrs. Munoz, for opening the door for your students to become Crime Scene Investigators!
